Pro Bono
At Sargent & Krahn we are committed to and involved in pro bono work, advising individuals, small entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations on how to access protection for their intellectual property rights. This, together with our constant academic work and dissemination of intellectual property, is our contribution as professionals committed to social responsibility and public service.
We are members of the Pro Bono Foundation, which has allowed us to advise individuals and non profit organizations that require assistance in our professional field. In addition, and also through the Pro Bono Foundation, we participated in the drafting of the new regulations of the Intellectual Property Law commissioned by the Government and which served as the basis for the regulations that were issued in 2013. Our partner, Alfredo Montaner, together with the other members of the Commission, received the 2012 Pro Bono Foundation Award.
We have developed strategic alliances with other institutions such as Endeavor Chile and Start Up Chile to train and advise small entrepreneurs at the national level in matters of intellectual property and patenting.
We have organized contests to encourage patenting and innovation, which allow inventors and innovators to get free advice, which they otherwise could not afford, to protect and exploit their inventions and innovations, including on an international scale.
